Why should we care about water?

Access to water is an inalienable human right, yet 1 in 3 people do not have access to safe drinking water.
Although our planet is made up of mostly water (~70% of surface), only a small portion of that water is fit for consumption.
The global population will increase to 9.4 billion people by 2050 and this population growth accompanied by increased water use will severely reduce water availability per person and create stress on the entire global ecosystem.
Some regions face higher water scarcity than others, and many children and individuals face this challenge everyday.
The food we eat everyday requires water to grow. A growing human population will require additional water consumption directed into agricultural practices.
785 million people lack access to basic drinking water and while human beings can survive weeks without food, most can only live a few (~3 to 4) days without water.
